§ 8.04.020. Definitions.

  • For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms, phrases, words and their derivations shall have the meaning given herein. When not inconsistent with the context, words used in the present tense include the future, words in the plural number include the singular number, and words in the singular number include the plural number. The word "shall" is always mandatory and not merely directory.

    A.

    "City" means the city of Fallon.

    B.

    "Director of traffic" means the chief of police of the city of Fallon.

    C.

    "Junked motor vehicle" means any motor vehicle, as defined by subsection D of this section, which does not have lawfully affixed thereto both an unexpired license plate or plates and a current motor vehicle safety inspection certificate, and the condition of which is wrecked, dismantled, partially dismantled, inoperative, abandoned or discarded.

    D.

    "Motor vehicle" means any vehicle which is self-propelled and designed to travel along the ground, and includes, but is not limited to automobiles, buses, motor-bikes, motorcycles, motor scooters, trucks, tractors, go-carts, campers and trailers.

    E.

    "Person" means any person, firm, partnership, association, corporation, company or organization of any kind.

    F.

    "Private property" means any real property within the city which is privately owned and which is not public property as defined in this section.

    G.

    "Public property" means any street or highway, which shall include the entire width between the boundary lines of every way publicly maintained for the purposes of vehicular travel, and shall also mean any other publicly owned property or facility.
