§ 2.36.340. Retirement.

    The normal mandatory retirement age of all employees shall be seventy years of age. In special cases, the mayor will grant work extensions to employees after the age of seventy on a year-to-year basis, only when it is in the best interest of the city to do so. Extension requests will be dealt with on the basis of the facts in each individual case. Any employee requesting extension shall demonstrate physical, mental and emotional fitness to perform his work by way of yearly physical examination. Department heads shall be consulted, and any pertinent facts regarding the work performance of the employee requesting an extension of retirement age may be considered in determining disposition of his request.

    B.

    Employees desiring a work extension past the age of seventy shall submit the request in writing to the mayor not less than six months prior to his seventieth birthday.
