§ 2.36.210. Holidays.

  • The city follows all provisions concerning holidays pursuant to N.R.S. 236.015 and applicable federal and state laws. Regular employees receive holidays off with pay.

    A.

    Holidays, within the meaning of this policy shall include:

    New Year's Day

    President's Day

    Martin Luther King Day

    Memorial Day

    July 4th

    Labor Day

    Nevada Day

    Veterans' Day

    Thanksgiving

    Family Day (Friday after Thanksgiving)

    Christmas

    and any other day that may be appointed by the President of the United States or Governor of Nevada for public fast, thanksgiving or holiday. When any one of these holidays falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday will be considered a holiday. If any day falls on a Sunday, it shall be observed on the following Monday.

    B.

    Parties to celebrate the holiday season shall not be held during working hours or on city property.

    C.

    When a holiday falls during an employee's vacation period, when he would otherwise normally have received a day off, he shall receive another day off in its place.

    D.

    Any employee of the city who is required to work on any of the above named holidays, due to an emergency or orders of the department head, shall be granted usual holiday pay for such holiday plus compensation for work performed on that holiday at the rate of one and one-half times the employee's normal hourly rate.
