§ 2.36.080. Working hours and overtime pay-Standby employees.

Latest version.
  • A.

The normal work week for full-time city employees shall be forty hours. All hours in excess of the normal work-week hours shall be referred to as "overtime". Overtime shall be compensated for with overtime pay for each hour of overtime worked except in those departments where separate arrangements have been made with the concurrence of the mayor for other treatment of overtime compensation. Overtime shall be paid at one and one-half times the normal hourly rate of the employee. Overtime shall be paid on a minimum of two hours on callouts occurring more than one hour before or more than one hour after the normal beginning and quitting time. Any work done within the one hour period before or after the regularly scheduled work day shall be considered as an extension of the work day, and such extensions shall be paid as overtime.

    B.

For converting annual pay rates into hourly rates the annual rates shall be divided by two thousand eighty hours. The resulting hourly rate shall be used in figuring overtime, standby and pay deductions for lost time. Where a monthly employee works less than a pay period, earnings shall be figured at the above hourly rate for hours worked.

    C.

Any employee designated to be on standby shall receive special compensation as a standby employee.

    D.

The council from time to time shall set and approve special salary premiums, incentives, adjustments and general policy conditions for the same, including but not limited to special salary adjustments for standby employees.
