§ 17.12.020. System described-City engineer authority.

It shall be the duty of the city engineer to furnish information gratis upon request therefore as to the number applicable to any given house or building under this chapter, and in so doing he shall adhere in all respects to the following system of numeration: The initial point shall be the junction of Williams Avenue and Maine Street; fifty numbers shall be allowed to each side of every block as nearly as the same may be done in order to keep the system of numeration uniform; all even numbers shall be on the right and all odd numbers on the left, looking away from the initial point, and the numbering of Williams Avenue and Maine Street shall extend east and west and north and south respectively from said initial point. All streets extending east and west shall be numbered in each direction from Maine Street, and all streets extending north and south shall be numbered in each direction from Williams Avenue under the plan outlined in this section.
