§ 13.16.030. Snow, ice and rubbish—Removal authorized when—Costs.

  • In case of the failure for any reason of any of the persons mentioned in Section 13.16.020 to remove, or cause to be removed, any ice or snow, or to keep the sidewalks free and clear of earth, rubbish and all other substances, matter and growths, as in such section provided; the city, acting through such city officer or department as may be designated by the city council, shall have the right, but shall have no duty or obligation, to remove such ice or snow and to keep such sidewalks free and clear of such earth, rubbish or other substances, matter and growth; in the event that the city shall effect such removal, the cost thereof shall be lien against the premises adjourning such sidewalk, which lien may be collected by direct action against the owner or occupier of such premises or as other city taxes are collected.
