§ 10.40.050. Certain turns prohibited—Police chief authority.

    The driver of a vehicle shall not turn such vehicle around so as to proceed in the opposite direction, except at an intersection.

    B.

    It is unlawful for any person driving, propelling or in charge of any vehicle of any nature whatsoever to make a turn to the left at the intersection of Maine Street and First Street.

    C.

    The chief of police, subject to the approval of the city council, may erect and maintain signs at any street intersection or alley exit prohibiting the making of left turns by drivers of vehicles wherever the chief of police shall determine that such left turns would cause traffic congestion or traffic hazard. The making of such left turns may be prohibited between certain hours and permitted at other hours in which event the same shall be plainly indicated on the signs erected at the direction of the chief of police, When authorized signs are erected under the direction of the chief of police, it shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle to turn to the left in violation of the directions contained on such signs.
