§ 10.24.260. Parking—Restrictions on portions of Maine Street, Taylor Street and Williams Avenue—Loading permit required when.

  • A.

    It is unlawful for any person to park a vehicle upon that portion of the east side of Maine Street from the south line of Richards Street to the south city limits, and upon that portion of the west side of Maine Street from the south line of Center Street to the south city limits, other than parallel with the edge of the roadway in the direction of the traffic and with the right-hand wheels of the vehicle within eighteen inches of the roadway. It is unlawful for any person to park a vehicle upon that portion of Taylor Street from the south line of Williams Avenue to the south city limits, other than parallel with the edge of the roadway in the direction of the traffic and with the right-hand wheels of the vehicle within eighteen inches of the roadway. It is unlawful for any person to park a vehicle upon that portion of Williams Avenue from one hundred sixty feet east of the east curb of Maine Street to the west city limits, except as otherwise posted; provided, that should parking be allowed, as posted, it shall only be parallel with the edge of the roadway in the direction of the traffic and with the right-hand wheels of the vehicle within eighteen inches of the roadway.

    B.

    It is unlawful to park any vehicle so as to be on or overlapping any parking line which is marked upon the surface of any of such streets for the purpose of designating a parking space.

    C.

    It is unlawful to back a vehicle to the curb for the purpose of loading or unloading merchandise or material, except at the time and place and under conditions specified in a permit issued by the chief of police; however, such permit shall only be issued if ample space is left in the roadway for one line of traffic to pass such vehicle in each direction simultaneously.
